2008 Class 3 upgrading Program

This new program is a five stage program:

See Branch News for a break down of each stage and how it affects upgrading referees. An email was sent to those referees who applied for enrolment in to the old regional program, along with the application form.

Other CSA changes that affects referees are as follows:

Uniform is now changed to an all black concept:

Shirt is Black, no white collar or sleeves required
Black Shorts
Black Socks no 3 white rings required
# 1 alternate shirt is yellow
# 2 alternate shirt is red
Alternate is used only when a clash of colours with teams occurs
A new CSA badge will be made available in 2009 to all referees
No advertisement is permitted on uniform

 Change in Referees Classification

C4 changed to entry level
C3 changed to District Referee
C2 changed to Regional
C1 changed to Provincial

Change in Entry Level Age

2008 entry level age will be 13 years of age
2009 entry level age will be 14 years of age
2009 any entry level referee who turns 16 years of age will be automatically be upgrade to District Referee

Changes to Assessors Program

Ever year assessors have to be recertified. Next year 2008 Joe Guest will be the CSA instructor who will be training  / certifying 12 National Assessors, who in turn will train the Regional and District Assessors. An additional page will be added to the current assessors report, it is for Assistant Referees. Assessors will now have to carry out a more in-depth assessment of the AR. Assessors will have to apply common sense when it comes  to Uniform change, e.g. a referee should not be deemed out of uniform if he wears  socks with the 3 white rings when involved in an assessment game in stead of all black

Changes to the Instructors Program

CSA is now standardising all Referees' Education across Canada. All education material will be supplied by CSA to  Instructors. These materials would supplied in Power Point format. All Instructors have to be recertified every year. The age for C4 or Entry Level referees in 2008 is 13 years and 14 years of age in 2009

Please note that these are all changes  made by CSA as presented at the DRC meeting on November 10th. This information is presented to our Branch members from my notes taken at this meeting as DRC and is subject to change by CSA or OSA
