Ontario Soccer Referees' Association

February 9th 2010 Education Session

Subject: Revitalized O S R A Speaker Frank Cappizzano _President

Law 5  The Referee -Instructor: Lindo Parkes

President of the revitalised OSRA, Frank Cappizzano, explained the role and direction that the Association will be embarking upon and the need for cooperation, commitment and help from all members. This association has not gone through any change whatsoever since its formation 50 years ago. The need for change became evident when a brainstorming meeting between the Presidents was called last year. It was unanimously agreed that in its present form the association is non-productive and this needed to be addressed immediately. A mandate and directions were reached to achieve this goal.

The goals were to:

A)     Reduce the number of people serving on the executive

B)      Information and decision making must be done on a timely bases

C)      Reduce the cost of operation

D)     Establish a new constitution based on  Corporate structure

E)      Re-establish a good working relationship with the OSA

This information was well presented and prompted some very good questions
